In my quest to build a HTPC I've secured a remote, and some sweet open source software (C# even) to play media files. Now all I needed was some space to start saving those media files on. I currently had a 250GB drive, but that was almost full with photos, code, and pretty much everything important from the last few years.
We went to Fry's after last weekend's pro stop. We bought a bunch of equipment that we planned on using but ended up not needing. Since we had to return the stuff I thought we might as well shop too. Jackie opened up the ad's right before we got there and she joked, "A 400GB drive for $159!" I was like, "That's a little expensive, not the best deal."
Turns out she was joking, she knew that I wanted a new drive, so was trying to make up some awesome great deal. A little down the paper though was a great deal. There was a 500GB drive for $129. I was shocked, and amazed.
The drives were OEM so I had to pick up some SATA cables. Yesterday, the kids were out of the house so I got to work. I now have a 1TB striped array in my media PC. Now if I could only get a better case...
