The excitement never stops in So Cal it seems.  We have the grandparents down for the weekend.  The kids went to bed a little later than usual, and we hung out awhile afterwards.  The gp's went to bed so Jackie and I decided to go for a walk.  We have done this before and thought nothing of it.

I called up my friend Dave to talk with him about how we were free from the kids, having a good time and all that, when a group of people knocked over some trash cans behind us.  Jackie looked behind us, but I was just talking away having a great time talking with my bud.  This guy comes up while I was on my phone, and starts spewing, "Are you the one talking shit?  You wants some of this asshole?"  Another guy pops in and is saying the same stuff.  I just kept telling them I had no idea what they were talking about, and told my bud I'd have to call them back.

By this point both of them were in my face, so I tried to go around, and manuver myself away from Jackie.  I gave her a slight push on the hips to try to tell her to stay put, while I walked into the street.  That's when the dude on the left went behind me and struck me on the back of the head.  I was so stunned and suprised that when the other guy started to punch my ass I was wondering what the hell was going on.  I put my hands up, and tried to grab the guys face, but then as quickly as they came, they left!

Jackie all the while was screaming at them, what the hell are you doing?  What the hell?  We didn't do anything to you?  As they were leaving they said something to Jackie like, "You want to get your ass kicked too?" as they were walking away (cowards).  At this point some people having a party come over and ask what that was all about.  I'm like, "I have absolutely no idea?  That was really wierd!"  Some body gets me ice and after a bit we trek back home after some time.

Sure enough they stole my phone.  Why they didn't take my wallet, I'll never know, but glad I still have it.  Also glad they didn't have guns or knives, but man, wish I had gotten a punch in.  It just happened so quickly, and ended so quickly, and was totally unexpected.

The biggest mistake was that I didn't immediately call the police.  I called them this morning to file a report, but the officer said I should have called right then.  They had taken my phone, we didn't have another, and the way back home was through the area where they left.  I also thought there was little they could do.  I barely got a glimpse of both the dudes before they started wacking at my head.

All in all, really sucked, but could have been worse.  I have a few bruises but am fine.  Life moves on...
