Yeah well we moved over to CA.  Nothing went exactly to plan.  The first hints that this was coming was when we were trying to figure out where to stay.  Here's the timeline: On Wednesday we called the lady at my company about moving in on the next Monday.  She says she's call me back later in the day or at the very latest by Thursday morning (tomorrow).  She does give me the number and location of the place she thinks we'll be staying.  I forward this on to Jackie and she start to call around as well.  Good thing she did; Out of the 5 or so places we called the original one had 1 2-bedroom place left.  Everything else was booked.  So we signed up to get the 2 bedroom.  Problem there: It was unfurnished.  Ok, whatever, we'll just move some of our junk out.  We'll need to get a trailor to hook up to the car.

So we call up U-Haul.  They say they will order the hitch for our car and it should be in by Saturday, and we'll install it on Monday before we get the trailer hooked in (trailor would be on Monday).  Sounds like a plan.  Meanwhile on Thursday, the apartments were we are staying say that we'll need 2500 bucks to move in.  Holy crap, that's like comparible to how much we put down to move into our house!  So on Friday morning I go in nervously to work and talk with my boss about the moola problem.  I really respect my bosses at my company and in this case it is also well founded.  Each boss up the chain makes it their #1 priority to get the money in my account by the next Wednesday. Ok!  Problem solved, or so I thought.

On Friday, I still haven't heard back from the lady securing our housing but I had a perfect chance to call her because I had another matter to ask her about.  We talk about the other issue and she never mentions the housing.  She's about to hang up but before she goes I ask her how the search is going for some housing for us. "I was going to get to that this afternoon."  Wow, good thing we didn't rely on her.  I also never hear back from this person.

We call U-Haul back Sunday to ask some questions about the trailer and they tell us the hitch wasn't sent but they can probably get it in by afternoon Monday or sometime Tuesday.  I just make the decision to cancel it.  We're going to go "commando" and buy some junk out there to get us through 3-4 months.  Leaving Tuesday is just going to be too late.  We were a little nervous about the trailer anyways because the manual on the car said to be extremely cautious as the car wasn't made to haul stuff.

We drive out using 3 days of travel time.  On the Wednesday the advance is supposed to come through so we start charging back to our bank account that previously had a few dollars but not enough to get us out here.  I get there Wednesday afternoon and hook up my laptop first thing to check my work email, as I wanted to get the initial signing in stuff and meeting people done with on the first day (I'm here to work baby!).  Before I head out I check our balances - the advance didn't go through.  In fact, we've racked up over 150 bucks in NSF (Non Sufficient Funds) fees, off of 7 dollar lunch charges and 15 dollar gas fill ups.  Fantastic!  So I call my people back in Colorado to see what's up.  They don't know.  They said that it should have went through.  Wish I would have known that it would go through and be available in my bank account on Wednesday so I could have used my credit card.  I tell myself to breath deep and we move on.

We move into our apartment.  I ask to take a look before we go ahead and sign a 6 month lease (yeah, it was cheaper to sign a 6 month lease than pay the $133 a day for 4 months).  The apartment is a little different than what we were expecting.  In fact, the online stuff that we had viewed showed pristine marble counter tops with spacious kitchen and brand new carpet.  This was just another apartment that would have rented out for $600/mo back home.  We go back down and sign the lease and start moving stuff in.  Takes about 30 minutes.  Yeah we have nothing.  I took a picture of the mess because it's sadly halarious that we've left our house for this.

But all is not lost.  So far the apartments are pretty quiet.  They have a nice playground and pool that Ian wants to go into everytime he see's them.  While the inflatible matress that we bought for a 100 bucks sucks donkey dick, we're going to go garage sale shopping today and try to find some cheap ass furnature that we can throw away after this period.  I even already found a chair for 3 bucks at the goodwill!

The beach is also suprisingly close.  We walked the 2 blocks down and walked on the shoreline after work on Thursday to aleviate some stress, and it worked.  The only problem we had with that is the trash.  Everything drains here to the beach, so I think that when people throw a glass bottle on the street someplace in town they don't realize that it will eventually be on the shore.  Wear some sandals though and you're ok.  We'll definately be going down there more often.  So that's enough of the party for now.  We're going garage sale'ing so I gotta get going.
