My doc prescribed a valium for the morning of the operation. No
idea why I was nervous, I was really wanting to have the procedure, and
had talked to many people - but I guess sticking needles into my balls
just was causing me to be a bit stressed.
I wanted Jackie to come in, but she opted-out of that situation.
I was glad she did. She's not too great with smells of burning
ball sacks or blood, so she could have fainted, I would have maybe
contaminated my open scrotum, and a scene could have developed. I
went in alone, sat down and waited.
I'm thinking, couldn't I have waited outside? The tension was
building a bit, but I just reminded myself that it's only a 30 minute
procedure and I'll be out of there pretty soon. After a few
minutes, the doc came in, asked me a few more "are you sure" questions
and then I laid down. He put a ton of antiseptic over my crotch,
shaved a few more bits of hair off and then proceeded to squeeze-find
my vas.
Good lord. That had to be the worst part of the operation.
Some dudes got my nuts, squeezing and pulling (maybe yanking is a
better term) like you'd pull on a coat stuck in a car door, and I have
to sit still. Oh boy, and then the shots. Nothing better
than getting shots of deadener into the groin region. Thankfully,
after 5-6 of those, the pain went away. I felt some pain when he
started cauterizing but more shots in...and I didn't feel a thing.
My stomach still did though. It just felt like someone was
grabbing my stomach. It wasn't too uncomfortable, but something
we'd all rather do without. After my left side was done, my right
side went in about 5-10 minutes and I was done. I was actually
suprised at the speed. I wiped myself up, and then sat up -
whoa! A little woozy. I took my time, then hiked up the
shorts, went to the door (still almost falling over) and then had
Jackie help me out to the car.
Ice packed the region all day long, and day 2 felt pretty good. I
could walk about, even pickup Ian without much pain. Then the
accident came, I'm walking up the stair with both Ian and Alexis and I
trip. In my effort to not let anything happen to them (they just
noticed that their elevation dropped a bit) I had to exert my ab
muscles. Ouchie. So now I have a bit more pain here on day
three. Good thing I have a few more pain pills!
Hopefully by this Friday everything will be feeling back to normal.
