Jackie's cousin Courtney came down on Monday and left yesterday afternoon.  I initially thought she had come down to visit her Dad and Grandma but she didn't seem to enthused to do so.  I guess Jackie talked with her a bit and she said that she wanted to really see Ian.  I'm glad she got a chance to.  I guess pretty much all yesterday morning and afternoon Courtney and Ian got to play around while Jackie got some other house stuff done.

The wierd thing was, Courtney's father didn't come to dinner with us on Monday.  Then again Tuesday he was running errands.  I feel a bit sorry that he doesn't take a more active role in her life but I think she's just getting used to it.  I'm hoping that whatever happens in our future, our children will at least respect us.  I suppose it'd be great if they considered us their friends, but I hope that we can give them the love that they need that will allow them to have the support they need to get through the journey of life.  I think that even if they hate our guts they will at least respect us for the time and support that we've given them over the years.  I couldn't imagine being away from Ian for a great length of time, and that's why I've requested that I have almost no travel time at work.  I also don't really do overtime.  The extra money or bonuses aren't worth spending time away from my family.

On that note, I'm really looking forward to going to Breck this weekend.  Devon and I will probably ski or board a bit, and I'll get to just hang with the family in a fun relaxed setting.  Should be a great time, and lord knows, more vacations can't hurt!
