I'm counting down the number of days until my first pro event and I'm more nervous than a turkey the day before Thanksgiving. I am just laying here thinking about the upcoming season, which I must add, I am very excited for, but the nerves, WOW!!! I leave in something like 25 days, leaving my darling boo at home to take on the best women racquetball players in the world. This is the experience that I need to establish myself though. I need to know and feel what it's like to walk on the court with these ladies and play my heart out. I know I'm ready, I'm confident that I will do well, I will not embarass myself and it IS where I belong. I was nervous for my first nationals last season and I remember the match against Kealy on center court, everyone watching, Geoff taking pics, Leo's live commentary over the internet, going to a tie breaker with my would-be coach and local tourney director behind the glass. I was shaking like a leaf!!! worse, I was shakin like bacon!!! That was a great experience for me, hopefully it will help me when I draw into Rhonda or Cheryl in the round of 16 in Maryland. The nervousness is coupled with shear excitement!!! I can not wait to go and play, I'm so pumped... I was actually upset that I wasn't in Fayettville for the season opener... I was up in NY playing a local event. I know this isn't my season to shine, BUT it is my season to make a statement, and if I shine a little on the way, it's an added bonus!!!
Thanks to RHS for your undying love and support, Thanks to LVG for your wisdom and guidance, Thanks to my friends at the club to giving me someone to practice against (remember my first day back last november 05?), Thanks to A&FR for your inspiration, motivation, and for giving me someone to aspire to, Thanks to my F&F for believing in me and always being there for me, Thanks to GM for being the best Mixed partner I could ask for, right from the beginning, Thanks to TK for not laughing at me when I told you my aspirations... Thanks to most of the forum, like 99.6% of you, for your support and giving me a place that I can talk shop and be silly. Thanks to Brenda and Jason for answering all of my questions, you've helped me sooo much!!! Thanks for reading this, I'm glad I didn't waste my time typing!!!
Here we go, it's gonna be a fun...
My pro schedule is Maryland, NY, Memphis, Virginia, Toronto, Miami, New Orleans, Then to Nationals in Houston... A few local events thrown in, NJ State Singles, NY Regionals, and a few others along the way... Enjoy the ride!!! :)
I just have to say, I am very lucky... I work in a school, (math director) and the principal I work for allowed me to work days during the summer so that I can travel and compete on the WPRO tour. Not all the events mind you, but most... It's amazing how things happen in life and they come together. The timing is incredible... I'm so lucky to have the support of my friends, family and employers to play racquetball!!!
