This is definitely one of the biggest peeves of mine about California. Over priced boxes....crappy ones at that in some cases. Yesterday we saw in the paper "Brand New homes under 500K". So we went and looked at them. They were brand new, they had 2 car garages, two bedrooms, and , a little "den" totally managable. But, they had $418 Mello Roos a month. Way to kill a good thing.
So it was back to crappy little boxes. We saw one open house that could have been a good candidate until I spoke with the lender today. We have to keep it under 350K for a payment that we can afford. This of course does not include TI of PITI. Great.
So now Willie is looking with interest at Corona California. Great. I look at the map, it adds 10 more minutes to his drive time, which is now equal to the commute he did in Colorado and something we DID NOT WANT here in California. I also used familywatchdog.us to look up sex offenders, there were 112 in a population of like 170K. That doesn't sound too bad except they're sort of scattered and really close to every residential neighborhood. We can afford more home, but most of them are manufactured homes.
This home search just sucks. PLUS I thought I had until March to do this,..i.e. I'd start now, and we done then, but called and our lease ends here in February so....I have a month instead of two. I'm just really disappointed so far....
