In about 3 hours I will have two of the most frustating and enjoyable individuals in my life visiting my house for the next week. Its always a catch 22 with these two. Which personality is going to show up.
My Grandmother. Is she going to shop up in her "miserable, wo to me, I'm so down trauden(sp?)" personality? Or, how about the "Oh I'm so excited to be here, I'm having so much fun, I love the grandkids" personality. Well, in her case sometimes both can be annoying because she pairs each personality with a side of tears, and cries at the top of a hat. So I'll have to get used to just ignoring that attention getting mechanism of hers.
Then, theirs Kathy. Either one of these two by themselves are absolutely fine to deal with, but you get them together, and its like watching a snowballing cat fight. She's either going to show up in her "I hate David, Lets get you to sell you home and go into assited living, I think I think, I'M ALWAYS RIGHT" personality. OR, her totally "Non-challant, lets have a fun time, I'm here to vacation baby" attitude.
This might seem like a bizaare thing to worry about. But, when it comes to my family you never know what side of the coin your going to be looking at. And this was never more true than when we visited my Dad in March in Colorado.
Now mind you our relationship is not that ... father daughter like. Heck its not even really father/daughter/friend like. He forgets to call me, send cards, or any other acknowledgement on Christmas, and Birthdays, and then gets "hurt" and pouts to his wife when I didn't have time in between Ian and Lexi to get a card out in the mail. And well...I just dont give a shit. So we were there in March and on Night 1, we were totally expecting the uncomfortable uneasiness that his new wife brings to the table. She smokes in our presence, and in our childrens presence (The thanksgiving we went to their house, I was pregnant and she smoked like a chimney, and Ian was stick, and she just didn't seem to care a good god damn that anyone would be uncomfortable while she didn't, I mentioned this to my dad later when he asked if I liked her and that hasn't happened since), makes me feel uncomfortable because I believe my dad has painted me out to be some heiven daughter, though that close father daughter relationship is never what we've had, she doesn't know that. Well Night one went off beautifully without a hitch. Lexi however puked all over everything and we ended up leaving some stuff there to get clean and came back the VERY NEXT NIGHT to the uncomfortable "we need to talka" (she adds this very annoying uh at the end of every sentance, no idea why) atmosphere....
So theirs an example of how exactly my family can be so damn....wierd. They get here in about 2 and a half hours now, and I need to go finish tidying up and washing their linens.
ON ANOTHER REALLY ANNOYING PISS ME OFF TOPIC, I washed the Red throw that Willie got me in Guatemala for the first time with all of the Childrens clothes yesterday. Yeah. You guessed it. Everysingle clothing item is now died red. I did everything yesterday to get it out. I let it soak in Oxy clean, I used Tide with Bleach, and got some Rit and let that soak.....nothing. Not a lot of damage done except to Ian's. Now he'll be a boy who confuses everone because his shirt is pink, and his shorts are blue :)
